Interview
Shortlist (How difficult could it be?)
Once you have prepared
that all important CV, its up to the company executive
to wage through those curriculumn vitea's that
show promise. The first tip is to make sure that
you use a first class stamp on your envelope and
print on the front of the envelope "Private
& Confidential". This adds a special
touch which alerts the reader to the fact that
the contents of this mail is important and that
the reader is priviliged to read its contents.
As soon as the letter is opened, your much slaved
over CV may find itself on a reject pile. Its
not that your experiences, skills or education
fails to impress, but the mare fact that getting
an interview requires planning and that if this
planning stage is over looked the outlook for
sucess is limited. Empolyer's are normally inandated
with hundreds of applications and thse need to
checked and most get rejected on mere presentation.
In our typical example,
one company has one job vacancy, from say a hundred
applications the executive will need to narrow
this figure down to a possible twenty, mangement
reject a further ten, then follwed by 1st interviews
for the remaining ten applicants. A further six
are rejected leaving the remaining four for second
interviews and then an elimination round to choose
the best candidate for the job. This shows how
dificult it is for an application to get through
to the 1st interview. Its not always like that,
but I have felt that if you know the immense work
involved in the selection process, you might want
to design your CV in a way that makes it shine
out from the grey pile on the eliminators desk.
Muslim's
watchout!
As Muslims, we know that
our future is in the hands of Allah(swt) and knowing
this we always ask for His help in everything
that we do. Finding a job is no different, by
supplicating to Allah(swt) we ask Him to help
us to attain a job that is halal and that in doing
so we perservare in establishing our deen on earth.
Our deen (Islam) is so precious to us than life
itself and working as we do alongside the Kufar,
we must never loose sight of our ultimate goal
and that is the return of Islam in the political
arena (Al Khilafah). It is imperative that Muslims
define their desire to obtain Allah(swt) pleasure
by worshipping Him and carrying out His commands.
I must remind Muslims brothers and sisters that
your primary priority is to Allah(swt) and by
working to establish his deen Islam and implimenting
Al-Khilafah is the ultimate challenge facing us
today.
