Stop
the War Coalition!
Are Muslims permitted by Islam to march alongside
the Kaffir agenda?
ITG
expose the truth about the STWC February 15th
march 'Stop the War Coalition' and question why
some Muslims will be attending an event that will
anger Allah(swt) on the day of judgment! Read
on and learn why?
The True
Aims of the
“Stop The War Coalition”

Marching
on February 15th is Haram
and the Height of Political Naiveté
Britain
is a colonialist state. It was Britain that destroyed
the authority of Islam, the Khilafah. It was Britain
that created hatred amongst the Muslims by inspiring
them with nationalism. It was Britain that carved
up the Muslim lands into inept states, now numbering
over 50, under the auspices of the Sykes-Picot
agreement. It was Britain that established the
Jewish homeland, Israel. Today, Britain works
to undermine Islamic revival in the Muslim World
by assisting the treacherous Arab and Muslim regimes
in their brutal suppression of political Islam.
Their hands are drenched with the blood of the
Muslims of Bosnia, Iraq, Chechnya, Palestine and
Uzbekistan as they work to gain their rotten economic
and strategic interests in the Muslim World. In
spite of this, it is the British government we
are expected to lobby on the 15th of February.
The United Nations is a colonialist tool. It
was the United Nations that sanctioned the bombardment
of Iraq in the last Gulf War. It was the United
Nations that starved the Muslim women and children
of Iraq under a harsh sanctions regime. It was
the United Nations that prevented the Muslims
of Bosnia from defending themselves against Serbian
aggression. It was the United Nations that watched
impotently, while Sharon massacred the Muslims
of Jenin. In spite of this far from illustrious
history, it is the intervention of the United
Nations we are expected to call for on the 15th
of February.
O Muslims! Impending military action on the Muslims
of Iraq will undoubtedly be the latest episode
in the ruthless campaign conducted against Islam
and Muslims by Western capitalist nations under
the guise of a "war on terror". We have
witnessed the events that have taken place in
the name of the "war on terror" such
as the killing of the Muslims of Afghanistan,
the boycott of the Muslims of Iraq and the butchering
of the Muslims of Palestine. All of this was orchestrated
and sanctioned by America, and supported slavishly
by Britain and the Western governments. Britain
is itself a capitalist nation that is driven in
its actions purely by material interests and greed.
This reality cannot have escaped anyone's attention.
It is therefore the height of political naiveté
to expect the Western capitalist states, such
as Britain or America, to end their injustice
and oppression, for these qualities are inherent
in each and every capitalist state.
Since the destruction of the Islamic Khilafah
and the subsequent domination of man-made ideologies
and systems in the Muslim lands, the Ummah has
had shortcomings in her understanding of not only
Islam, but also the reality of political events
and happenings. However, in spite of this, Muslims
the world over still have a burning desire to
defend their Ummah from the nefarious designs
of the colonialist states and their agents. It
is this desire to valiantly defend Muslims and
Islam that has led the Ummah to expose the true
motives of America and Britain in their impending
crusade on Iraq.
Some Muslims have claimed that the "Stop
the War Coalition" [STWC] and the February
15th March are merely open platforms opposed to
the war and that they have no other agenda. Others
have thought that the STWC is opposed to any form
of aggression against the Muslims of Iraq. Such
claims have led some Muslims to express a desire
to march side by side with the STWC on February
15th. However if one were to evaluate the actions
and speeches of the STWC one would find that their
aims contradict the Shari'ah aims and disagree
with the Islamic view on politics. It is an essential
matter that the desire to defend Muslims and Islam
is directed according to the Ahkam Shari'ah (divine
rules) and not according to the ideals and values
of Western secularism.
The STWC and the organisers
of the February 15th March call for a Parliamentary
debate upon impending military action on Iraq
followed by a vote in the House of Commons. This
means that they would accept a colonial war on
Iraq if the MPs in the House of Commons deem such
a war to be necessary for the pursuit of British
interests. Is it a mere coincidence that Muslim
marchers on February 15th are expected to march
to Parliament Square and Whitehall? The STWC and
the organisers of the March expect Muslims to
support military action against Iraq if Parliament
were to ratify it. Muslims
are expected to call upon the British Government,
a colonialist leopard that will never change its
spots, to end its unjust and oppressive foreign
policy. Is this not the height of political naiveté?
The STWC and the organisers of the February 15th
March propose that the matter of Iraq should be
decided by "the explicit authority of the
United Nations". Why do they encourage Muslims
to call on the UN to solve the problems that afflict
the Muslim world? It is known only too well that
the Western capitalist convictions do not extend
to the observance of international law except
when it suits their interests. The understanding
of America and Britain is that what agrees with
their interests conforms to international law
and what conflicts with their interests contradicts
international law. UN resolutions today are almost
entirely in agreement with American and British
foreign policy objectives. This is not unknown;
so why should Muslims repeatedly insist on dependence
upon the United Nations? Are Muslims expected
to follow the UN to the ends of the earth, even
if it means burying hundreds of thousands of Muslims
in Iraq and Palestine beneath it? Is this not
the height of political naiveté?
Such political naiveté was revealed in
a telling letter to British Prime Minister Tony
Blair on 10th December 2002 when it was said,
"We call upon you as Prime Minister to give
a clear undertaking not to engage in military
action against Iraq without the explicit authority
of the United Nations and without an explicit
decision of the House of Commons to do so".
The signatories of the letter were the leading
figures of the STWC and the organisers of the
February 15th March - Alice Mahon MP, Carol Naughton,
Chair CND, Jeremy Corbyn MP, Sue Doughty MP, Lindsey
German, Convenor, Stop the War Coalition, Sabah
Jawad, Iraqi Democrats Against War and Sanctions,
Paul Mackney, General Secretary, NATFHE, Angus
Robertson MP, Mohammed Sawalha, President, Muslim
Association of Britain, Mohammad Sarwar MP, Mark
Thomas, Comedian and Simon Thomas MP [http://www.no-war-on-iraq.freeserve.co.uk/pr7.html].
The extensive feuding and internal wrangling
within the STWC as to whether Muslims should be
incorporated within the coalition is not surprising.
The only explanation is that many of the organisers
of the February 15th March view Muslims and Islam
with disdain. The real sentiments of some of the
organisers can be gleaned from studying their
speeches and statements. Martyn Hudson, a leading
member of the Communist Party of Great Britain
said, "Since the 1960s
the world has witnessed the ascendancy of one
particular form of Islam - a political Islam which
presents a civilisational alternative to that
of both Communism and Capitalism and which seeks
to eliminate secularism, liberty and any vestiges
of enlightenment thought. Its explicit task is
the reformation of the worldwide community of
Muslims, the Ummah, and the construction of a
global Islamist state, the Khilafah. It is totally
incompatible with our vision of social progress
and, no matter how much it constructs itself as
an alternative to a barbarous imperialism; it
is a backward, reactionary,
clerico-fascist attempt to build a militaristic
theocracy on the corpses of the working class,
women and youth." [November 28th 2002].
Even those who advocate 'moderate' Muslim involvement
in the STWC, such as Ian Donovan, have their own
sinister motives: "It
may well be that a progressive movement will emerge
from the contact and dialogue
of the Muslim brothers and sisters that are coming
into contact with socialist and revolutionary
literature and ideas. There is no guarantee
of this, of course, but I believe it is a realistic
possibility and something positive to hope and
struggle for." [November 28th 2002].
The true aims of the STWC were nicely summarised
by Marcus Ström writing in the Weekly Worker
Magazine who said, in reference to an earlier
STWC demonstration, "On
September 28, we can safely assume that not one
leftwinger or trade union militant became attracted
to the ideas of political Islam. However,
thousands of Muslims - not least young men and
women - were exposed to the ideas of mass democracy,
secularism and socialism. For mullahs and
imams something to be feared and fought. Yet the
left must sharpen up its message - merely articulating
the general 'stop the war' slogan is not good
enough. The left must stress its universal programme
of socialism, democracy and internationalism."
[October 3rd 2002]. The inability to reach a consensus
on Muslim involvement in the February 15th March
is not that surprising given that it is difficult
to reconcile the view of the communists that Islam
is the "opium of the masses" with the
view of Muslims that Islam represents the only
ideological alternative to the decadent ideology
of Capitalism or the defunct ideology of Communism.
In the light of these clear political realities
only the politically naïve would now claim
that the STWC is merely
an open platform opposed to the war - it is obvious
that the STWC advocates a British Parliament or
UN inspired resolution to the problems that afflict
the Muslims of Iraq. Despite the stated slogan
of "Stop the War" it is clear that the
campaign will further the domination of colonialism
in the Muslim world, advocate Western inspired
solutions for Iraq and hasten the political integration
of Muslims in Britain so that they abandon the
values and ideals of Islam for the values and
ideals of Western secularism. It would
be true to say that the STWC
is in fact an alternative colonialist expression,
albeit inspired by the British, whose vision for
the future of Iraq is not too dissimilar to that
of a right wing 'hawk' in the Bush administration.
It is somewhat striking that the position of the
STWC accords precisely with the position of the
British Government who have stated that support
for the UN is a central tenet of their foreign
policy and that any decision to take military
action would be put before the House of Commons
very quickly [Reference: Hansard 25th November
2002]. It would appear to the independent observer
that the British Government and the STWC share
the same speechwriters.
O Muslims! Iraq, Palestine and the Gulf are all
Islamic lands and their inhabitants are Muslims.
They are not American or British lands that allow
America and Britain to intervene in their affairs
and solve their problems. The wealth of these
countries is the property of their Muslim people
and is not for America, Britain or any other state
in the West or the East. The right of disposal
of these resources is for their Muslim people.
The protection of these resources is a duty upon
their Muslim people, not upon America or Britain.
Only Muslims are responsible for their lands
and for solving its problems and for its protection,
security and caring for its affairs. The settling
of all their issues must remain in their hands
and in accordance with the law of Islam. They
are not allowed at all to put their issues in
the hands of others, whether these others are
the British Parliament, the Security Council,
the United Nations or the International Court
of Justice. Putting the affairs of Muslims in
the hands of others to resolve the issues is a
means of giving authority and power to those disbelievers
over Muslims. It is prohibited to allow the Kuffar
to have a means of dominating Muslims:
"And Allah will never allow the unbelievers
to have any way of authority over the believers"
[TMQ An-Nisa: 141].
Insisting on solving international conflicts that
afflict the Muslims under the banner of the UN,
international law or any other Taghoot is also
contradictory to the tenets of Islam. Allah (swt)
says:
"Have you seen those who claim to believe
in the revelation revealed to you and the revelation
revealed earlier? They seek the ruling of taghoot
(non-Islam) although they have been ordered to
disbelieve in it." [TMQ An-Nisa: 60].
O Muslims! Aggression against Iraq is unlawful
whether sanctioned by the UN or not. Aggression
against Iraq is unlawful whether sanctioned by
America or not. Aggression against Iraq is unlawful
whether it is authorised by the British Parliament
or not. Aggression against Iraq is unlawful whether
the rulers of the Muslim world acquiesce in it
or not. Aggression against Iraq is unlawful whether
the government scholars issue fatawa legitimising
it or not. Aggression against Iraq is unlawful,
period.
You must resist the call of integration that
is propagated by Western governments so as to
tarnish the pristine Islamic identity with Western
values, ideals and morals. Political participation
in non-Islamic politics by joining a Western secular
political party like the Labour Party, by entering
Parliament or by calling on the British Government,
cannot be done without adopting Capitalism and
abandoning Islam. It should be very plain to you
that integration is completely contradictory to
the Islamic Aqeedah (belief). The Prophet (saw)
refused to integrate into Quraishi society and
nor did he participate within their political
systems despite numerous opportunities and incentives.
Integration means agreeing with democracy, a ruling
system that allows alcohol to be legalised, adultery
to be rampant and Iraq to be bombed. All such
values contradict Islam, and thus must be rejected
by all Muslims. Muslims must not integrate or
isolate, but actively present the Islamic ideology
by continuously pointing out and exposing the
contradictions within the capitalist system.
The Messenger of Allah (saw) said,
"Both legal (Halal)
and illegal (Haram) things are evident but in
between them there are doubtful things and most
of the people have no knowledge about them. So
whoever saves himself from these doubtful things,
he would save his religion and his honour. And
whoever indulges in these doubtful things would
fall into Haram like a shepherd who grazes (his
animals) near the Hima (private pasture) of someone
else and at any moment he is liable to fall into
it. Oh people! Beware! Every king has a Hima and
the Hima of Allah on the earth is what he declared
as Haram things."
Islam ordered Muslims to keep away from areas
of uncertainty or doubt, and to be careful with
regards to that lest they fall into disobeying
Allah (swt). The Muslim has been ordered not to
frequent any place nor do any action, nor be drawn
into any situation in which there is uncertainty,
lest they commit Haram.
Now that the actual objectives of the STWC and
the February 15th March have become apparent to
you, loyalty to Allah (swt) and His Messenger
(saw) demands of you to immediately distance yourself
from the STWC and the organisers of the march
who advocate aggression against your Muslim brothers
and sisters in Iraq on the say-so of the British
Parliament or the UN. You must undertake the following
actions so as to dispel any cloud of doubt from
your character and actions:
1. Publicly disassociate yourselves from the
STWC and the organisers of the march. Do not
march with them on the 15th of February, do
not accept their empty slogans and do not call
for their corrupt Western inspired solutions
that are the fuel of the hellfire.
2. Do not undertake work for the Socialist
Workers Party, the Labour Party, the Green Party,
CND or any other organisation based on non-Islam,
do not distribute their leaflets and do not
donate money to their cause. There are hundreds
of Islamic evidences that forbid the Muslim
from adopting Kufr and Haram and calling and
working for them.
Umar ibn al-Khattab (ra) said,
"We are a people whom Allah strengthened
with Islam; and when we seek glory with other
than the deen of Allah, Allah will disgrace
us."
3. Never call for the UN or the British Government
to intervene in the affairs of Muslims and remember
that both of these are colonialist institutions.
Distance yourself from the British Government
and all Kufr political parties, whether Labour,
Conservative or otherwise.
4. Do not adopt the nationalistic flags of
Iraq and Palestine, nor chant nationalistic
slogans for Iraq or Palestine, since the salvation
of this Ummah lies in Islam and not the false
call of nationalism.
5. Denounce Capitalism and Western inspired
solutions as the cause of the misery of the
Muslim world.
6. Resist the call of integration and political
participation so that the pure identity of Islam
is not tarnished by the najas (impurity) of
Western values, ideals and akhlaq (morals).
7. Carry Islam as an ideological alternative
that can fill the political and spiritual voids
that plague Western society.
8. Call for US bases to be ejected from Muslim
lands, for the cessation of economic and political
relations between Muslim lands and Western powers,
for an end to the sale of oil to the aggressors
in Downing Street and the White House and for
the closure of the embassies of the US and Britain.
9. Openly declare Islamic politics by not accepting
the blind submission of the rulers of the Muslim
world to colonial designs and by issuing a resounding
call for the change and replacement of these
regimes with a true and practical Islamic leadership
- the Islamic Khilafah - that will be ideologically
and politically independent of the West and
her agents.
O Muslims! O you to whom Allah (swt) has given
might with Islam! Have we forgotten the victories
of Islam and the Muslims and the glorious Islamic
heritage such that we run, like headless chicken,
to the doors of the houses of the Kuffar, to seek
some petty interests and to secure some benefits?
Has defeatism reached such an extent that we expect
the colonialist leopard, Britain, to show mercy
to Islam and Muslims?
The Muslim knows that truth and falsehood do
not meet, and that Kufr and Iman cannot co-exist.
And here is the test - either you call to that
which Allah (swt) has ordered you and patiently
bear the trial and tribulation and believe that
Allah (swt) is our Helper or you neglect what
Allah (swt) has obliged on you and accordingly
earn Allah's (swt) anger and displeasure and fall
prey to the machinations of the oppressors and
Kuffar.
The Muslim Ummah everywhere knows that her liberation
will be through Islam and through its rule. She
knows that her rulers have misled and failed her.
She knows that she occupies an important strategic
area containing vast natural resources and that
she forms a quarter of the inhabitants on earth.
The Ummah has to decide on taking matters into
her own hands and put her reliance in Allah (swt)
as He (swt) has ordered, deriving her strength
from Him (swt), and having confidence that He
(swt) is the One Who gives honour and dignity
(mu'iz) and He (swt) is the One Who brings disgrace
and humiliation (muzil).
These are indeed dark days that the Muslim Ummah
endures in the Khilafah's absence. But do not
despair, since despair is not a characteristic
of the believers. No matter how much the power
of the Kuffar or the treachery of the rulers of
the Muslim world, do any of you believe that the
Ummah stands alone in this life? No! Allah (swt)
witnesses the suffering of this Ummah, and he
witnesses your work and your sacrifice.
On this noble day - The Day of Sacrifice - be
not like the man, Mu'attib ibn Qushair, who in
the Battle of Ahzab said, "Muhammad used
to promise us that we should eat the treasures
of Khosrau and Caesar and today not one of us
can feel safe in going to the toilet." Then
Allah (swt) revealed,
"And when the hypocrites
and those in whose hearts is a disease said, 'Allah
and His Messenger promised us nothing but delusions!'
And when a party of them said: 'O people of Yathrib
(Al-Madinah), there is no stand (possible) for
you (against the enemy attack!) therefore go back!'
And a band of them asked for permission of the
Prophet saying: 'Truly, our homes lie open (to
the enemy).' And they lay not open. They but wished
to flee" [TMQ Al-Ahzab: 12-13].
You must not deviate from the path of the Haq
even a hairbreadth until you see the Victory of
Allah (swt) and the glory and power of Islam and
Muslims, or you meet Allah (swt) while He (swt)
is pleased with you.
Soon we shall witness the great victories of
Islam, and our weak position will be reversed,
and what we have seen of poverty, disgrace and
humiliation will be turned around with the coming
of the mighty Khilafah state that will make the
Western powers forget the whispers of Shaytan!
And know that victory comes with patience. And
patience here is to restrict oneself to the orders
of Allah (swt).
"And Allah has full
power and control over His affairs, but most of
men know not" [TMQ Yusuf: 21].
It is haraam for Muslims
to support the disarmament
of Iraq
In public, the rulers of
the Muslim world continuously issue statements
supportive of UN efforts to disarm Iraq, but away
from public scrutiny, the rulers are working hand
in hand with the Anglo-American forces to prepare
the ground for a devastating military strike on
Iraq. Already Turkey, Jordan and Kuwait have agreed
to station a large US land invasion force and
other Muslim countries both neighbouring Iraq,
and afar, have agreed to provide airbases, command
control centres, fuel and logistics support. The
bitter irony is that while these rulers are busy
making arrangements to rid Iraq of possible possession
of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), Britain
and America are increasing their arsenal of WMD
and have made it clear that they will not hesitate
to use them on Iraq.
The Western powers are not limiting the scope
of disarmament to Iraq. Under different slogans,
such as 'rogue states', 'threat to the civilised
world, 'sponsors of terrorism' etc… these
powers are targeting other powerful Muslim countries
such as Pakistan and Iran. The sole aim of the
western powers is to strip this Ummah of these
weapons and even her right to defend herself.
At the same time these powers ardently defend
their right and the right of their partners Israel
and India to possess and use WMD.
Has it not occurred to the rulers of the Muslim
countries that if they collectively refuse to
assist the kafir powers, pool the Muslim armies
together and arm themselves with WMD they could
not only avert such belligerent threats, but easily
expel the crusader forces from all Muslim lands?
Or do they prefer to subjugate this noble Ummah
before the Western powers by handing over WMD
and bringing the Ummah to the brink of utter devastation
and annihilation?
Islam has made it obligatory upon the Islamic
state to be strong and secure in order to ensure
independence from the kafir powers. In practice
this means that the state should arm itself with
all type of weapons. This is in response to the
ayah.
"Make ready for them all you can of (armed)
force and of horses tethered, in order that you
may dismay the enemy of Allah and your enemy,
and others beside them whom you know not."
[TMQ Al-Anfal: 60].
In the past, the Khilafah state was quick to
arm itself with weapons that gave her a strategic
advantage over her adversaries and possible future
enemies.
The Messenger (saw) of Allah acquired the catapult
and used it against the Romans. Sultan
Muhammad engineered the largest canon in history
to fight the armies of Constantine.
Today the rulers in the Muslim countries feel
no remorse in sacrificing the strategic assets
of the Ummah to protect the interests of the Western
powers. They have become the principal agents
of a new war doctrine called the 'doctrine of
pre-emption', which the Western powers are using
to disarm the Ummah. Unless Muslims challenge
the rulers and the people of power to reject this
evil collaboration, these powers will face little
resistance in occupying Iraq and other Muslim
countries.
Muslims living here in the West are equally charged
with this duty, and will be accounted on this
noble responsibility.
Justice takes a backseat
in the pursuit of western interests in Iraq

As the United States finalises
the positioning of her troops to invade Iraq,
US Secretary of State, Colin Powell, once again
tried to convince the world of Iraq's threat.
Yet even before addressing the Security Council,
Powell admitted there was no "smoking gun".
Added to this, western officials have admitted
that the evidence against Iraq would not pass
in any court of law. Since Iraq is a political
issue, applying the same criteria to judge the
evidence is no longer necessary. Thus the US has
become the judge, jury and executioner of justice
meted out to nations which do not comply to her
demands.
In the fourteen months that have passed since
the attacks in New York on September 11th, much
has happened in America. Many precedents have
been established; the most striking being the
part that "evidence", or rather the
lack of it has had to play. Indeed if anything
has been set as a precedence, it is that "evidence"
is something that is "nice to have"
when pursuing foreign policy objectives, but certainly
is not required. This lack of need for evidence,
has allowed this war on terror to be moulded into
whatever the United States sees fit to use it
for.
In the immediate aftermath of the bombings in
New York, the US was quick to blame Al- Qaida
and the Taleban for the attacks. Both the US and
UK presented so called dossiers of evidences in
a bid to convince the world that Afghanistan had
to be attacked in order to destroy the terror
infrastructure of Al-Qaida. At the time, it was
claimed that the evidence collected against Al-Qaida
was compelling and included information related
to recruiting, training, financing and supporting
terrorist operations. Within days of attacking
Afghanistan, thousands of Muslims were arrested
across the US and Europe. Many still to this day
remain locked up, with no charges against them
or any evidence presented to justify their arrests.
Some of those that were tried for having links
with Al-Qaida had their cases thrown out of western
courts. To this date the so called body of evidence
against Al-Qaida has failed to produce no more
than a handful of convictions. A year on it has
become obvious to the whole-world that the attack
on Afghanistan was a mere pretext to secure access
to the oil reserves of the Caspian sea and not
about dismantling Al-Qaida. The dossiers of evidence
were in fact no more than concocted lies intended
to hide the true motives for waging war on the
people of Afghanistan.
This pattern of deceit and fabrication of evidences
continued, as both America and Britain sought
to rally world opinion for attacking Iraq. Just
after September 11, the US tried to implicate
Iraq in the attacks and failed. The US administration
then tried to associate Iraq with the anthrax
scare in America and that too failed. Unperturbed,
the US administration then declared Iraq part
of an axis of evil and charged Iraq with possession
of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and a menace
to the world. To prove the case, in the autumn
of last year, American and British governments
presented their dossiers detailing Iraq's WMD.
Later, UN inspectors searched Iraq; especially
those sites listed in the dossiers and found nothing,
not even a 'jam jar' of WMD. Not satisfied with
the outcome, both London and Washington used the
Security Council meeting on Wednesday, to present
fabricated evidences to win over doubting nations
to their evil cause. Allegations that Iraq is
linked to Al Qaida and that Iraq is a threat to
the world, were again repeated but no concrete
evidence was produced. Once again the evidence
is no more than allegations and fabricated lies,
formulated to hide the true motives for waging
war on Iraq.
On the contrary, there is undeniable evidence
which proves that Western companies armed Iraq
with WMDs, and furthermore Anglo-American war
efforts pose a greater threat to Iraq's neighbours
than Iraq itself and that the true motives of
America and Britain is to secure the oil fields
of Iraq. If America and Britain were tried by
their own legal standards, only one verdict would
emerge - guilty, guilty and guilty again!
The rulers of the Muslim world are just as culpable.
They have not lifted a single finger or spoken
a single word to prevent an attack on Afghanistan
or Iraq. The very least they could do is to stop
repeating the fabricated evidences and excuses
given to them by their colonialist masters.
As Muslims in Britain we have to speak loudly
about such practices. We have to show how hypocritical
the western regimes are in pursuing justice. When
it comes to Muslims, there is the assertion of
guilt until proven innocence. Yet in the case
of the non Muslims, every opportunity and legal
route is pursued to maintain innocence until guilt
is proven, as in the trial of Slobodan Milosovic.
We have to show how this hypocrisy is not due
to leaders such as Bush and Blair, but rather
is endemic in the Capitalist thought and psyche.
Benefit is the overriding principle; hence justice
takes a backseat in the pursuit of interests.
| Whilst war looms,
mosques have been asked to "close for
Islamic politics" |
 |
On Wednesday the 20th February,
church leaders, both Protestants and Catholics,
made a rare joint declaration in which they expressed
misgivings about the moral legitimacy of a war
in Iraq. This is not the first time that church
leaders have voiced concerns about the looming
war; throughout the military build up, church
leaders in Britain have sought to break with secular
norms and some have used their sermons to make
strong political statements against military action
in Iraq.
In marked contrast, mosque leaders in Britain
have been asked to retreat behind secularism and
to prevent the mosques from being used by the
community to voice their condemnation of the Anglo-American
war efforts and to express solidarity with their
Iraqi brothers and sisters. Sermons have been
censored, Islamic circles closed down and CCTV
installed in some mosques to help police monitor
worshippers. By behaving in this manner a very
dangerous precedence is set, ensuring that the
correct political culturing of the ummah does
not take place. In fact, today the only political
action undertaken in our mosques is when Western
politicians line up to give this ummah the Western
agenda.
When mosques were run according to the rules
of Islam, great statesmen and politicians were
produced who went on to protect the interest of
the ummah by exposing the evil plots and plans
of the kuffar. Today the mosques are run to please
the authorities, who use them to silence the ummah
and to make her ignorant of the plans of the kuffar.
Therefore, it is paramount for the Muslim community
to resist attempts to secularise the mosques and
oppose restrictions on criticising the impending
war on Iraq. The community must demand that the
sermons deliver a clear message that the war on
Iraq with or without the UN authorisation is completely
unacceptable to Muslims; and that the only way
to avert war is for the rulers of the Muslim world
to withdraw all assistance to the Western war
machine.
ITG:
Muslims must not be narrow minded, look at
the larger picture and find out whether your participation
within a march is allowed from an
Islamic point of view. Don't look to other
fellow Muslims, who incidentally
may be following blindly, don't
follow them to the hellfire - decide objectively
and decisively
from Islamic point
of view. Don't let your emotions take hold, do that
which will give you reward from Allah(swt) that
which is correct and avoid that which is punishable.
